Herdade da Calada is a historic and renowned wine estate located in the Alentejo region of Portugal, founded in 1854 by descendants of the Duke of Lencastre. The estate spans 420 hectares, including 55 hectares of vineyards and 126 hectares of olive groves. Beyond its wine production, it also includes areas for cereal cultivation and cork trees. The estate has undergone numerous renovations, maintaining the beauty of its original architecture while modernising its winemaking process.

The winemaking philosophy at Herdade da Calada is focused on maintaining the unique regional characteristics of its wines. They employ gravity-fed winemaking techniques, avoiding the use of pumps to preserve the quality of the grapes. This approach results in wines with complex flavours that reflect the estate\'s distinctive terroir. In addition to wines, they also produce award-winning olive oils.

    TASTING NOTES

This citrine-colorued white wine offers an enticing aroma of tropical fruits, beautifully complemented by refreshing hints of lemon. On the palate, the wine is soft with a balanced acidity, delivering a crisp and refreshing finish. The blend of Alvarinho, Ferno Pires, and Arinto makes this wine a versatile choice for a wide range of dishes, enhancing its appeal for both casual and fine dining.

    VINIFICATION

The grapes are handpicked, followed by a cold maceration process to extract the purest flavours. The fermentation is carefully controlled at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks, ensuring the preservation of the wine\'s delicate aromas and freshness.

    FOOD PAIRINGS

This elegant white pairs well with light dishes such as seafood, grilled fish, fresh salads, and soft cheeses. Its balanced acidity makes it an ideal match for Mediterranean cuisine.

    SERVING SUGGESTIONS

For the best experience, serve chilled at 10-12C to enhance its fresh fruit characteristics.
