The best grape you may never had heard of, Mencia is native tonorth west Spain. It is sometimes compared to Pinot Noir and like Pinot it sometimes gets the oak andageing treatment but we like it like this, fresh, young and full offruit. Bold enough to go with food butjuicy enough todrink on its own too, maybe a little chilled, its great with lamb or duck.
Castro Ventosa has been run by the Perez family since 1752 and the cellar is now run by Raul Perezs nephew Cesar Marquez, a rising star in Spain.
