Envnate (aka wine-yourself) is the brainchild of Laura Ramos, Jose Martnez, Roberto Santana and Alfonso Torrente, four friends who met while studying oenology at the University of Miguel Hernndez in Alicante. They focus on exploring the ancient, Atlantic-influenced terruos of Ribeira Sacra, The Canary Islands and Almansa. Their philosophy is simple: let each parcel fully express itself through traditional farming and wine-making methods.

Right now there are four different projects under the Envnate umbrella: Lousas overseen by Alfonso Torrente in Ribeira Sacra, Tganan and Benje by Roberto Santana in Tenerife, and Albahra in Almansa by Laura Ramos and Jos Martnez.

Tganan is the old local name for this rugged vineyard area located on the northeastern side of Tenerife, where vines are planted on primary volcanic rock on cliffs just above the Atlantic. This wine is a blend of the many different native varieties, vinified separately in a mix of concrete tanks and small open containers. The result is a juicy and utterly drinkable red, with plenty of fresh red fruit, spiciness and food-friendly acidity.
